That's where I'll be for the next 10 days ... yes I've succumbed to Covid, although I'm not feeling bad! Yet. My photographic possibilities will be limited and so I'm going to do a theme of House & Garden, just like the magazine.
Here you can see a small part of my latest project - removing paint with combination of a blow gun and nitromors from the wooden shutters of my office, and preparing them for varnishing. It's hard graft, but in my experience, worth it. Still a long way to go though, but it'll keep me busy!
The last time I did any of this was in our old Victorian house in Aberdeen, and I took on the project of doing the whole staircase, and all the large skirtings in the hall and dining room. A massive task now that I think about it, and it took me months as I was working full time, the kids were little and John was working offshore. But it did mean that I had free evenings, so that was what I did! The result was a beautiful wooden staircase and lovely skirtings to match the wooden doors.
No idea what tomorrow's photo will be, but I'll think of something with a story, hopefully!
So sorry to hear about covid, but very happy that you are not feeling bad and have mild symptoms. Wishing you a speedy recovery and good luck with your project. Wonderful textures and tones, it does sound like a tough job though.
Hope you only get mild symptoms Issi! Take care of yourself and don’t work too hard! You don’t want to overdo it! It sounds like the final straw after all your other recent bad news! Big hug xx
Glad you have mild symptoms. I hope it stays mild. Get plenty of rest so your body can work on getting better. Interesting project you have taken on. I keep wondering how you got up and down the stairs during that first project. Get well soon.
Oh I recognise this so much! The smell of Nitromors lives in my brain I have used so much of it on two old farmhouses! Well worth it but it’s a horrid job except fir the last half hour when it’s done! Good luck but keep the rubber gloves on!
Sorry about the covid, hopefully you won’t be affected much…pretty much bound to lose your taste & small though, take to your bed if need be.
Looking forward to the rest of your project!
Oh Issi, so sorry to read about the Covid. Hope you don't feel too poorly and go gently with the woodwork project! But I do admire your perseverance and expertise!!! And hope hubby is feeling a bit better too.
No more powercuts? Keep cosy anyway. 💛💛
Fingers crossed you don’t get poorly- Adam says his colleagues with it are all working from home (double vaxxed - when he had it after one vaccine he wasn’t really up to working) - so with a bit of luck you’ll stay mildly afflicted and acquire a bit of extra viral immunity at the same time.
Cool textures and details.
