I was scanning some of dad's slides last night, and I came across this funny one of me and my little brother and my mum.
I was 11 at the time, and it was decreed that an annual family day was to be held including my grandparents and my aunt. This was to be in July when my aunt visited from England. Only once a year. The whole idea was to tie dad down to a day with no distractions, apart from us. Not too much to ask? Well, it lasted two years, but we remember it well, as it was such a rare event.
Here we are in the hills, at a place called The Buailteach (pronounced Bullshich, more or less). What my brother and I are doing, who knows, but my mum is stoking the water boiler with twigs. I remember that water boiler - everyone got kippered with smoke when it got going, but it worked well for heating the water!
Daughter arrives from Norway today and it's her birthday! Another Woo Hoo!
Exactly what I was going to say, @dide ! We do know it so well. I guess we were lucky with my Dad - Mum organised the holidays and he went along with it!
Lpvely shot bringi.g bavk fond memories for sure. Lucky you to have your daughter arriving. Enjoy the time together. Mine was supposed to come onTuesday, but it got cancelled as SA is on the red list 😥
How lovely to have the whole story come to life from a slide.
Have a great day with your daughter. Has to be good for her getting home on her birthday 🎂
Oh thank goodness for photos! You must feel quite nostalgic seeing this memory. Sounds a great idea as a plan but men don’t conform when they have things to do. We had that problem! Too busy!
Happy birthday to your daughter….lovely having her home for that & Christmas….you got out just in time!
@dide@julzmaioro What a great name for this contraption. I don't think I've ever seen anyone else with one. We used to have two. No idea what came of them!
