Never has the tree been put up as quickly as it was last night. I was exhausted, having attended the funeral of our 24 year old neighbour, Robert. Such a sad day, but with fitting tributes for him all round. His mother, fiancé, grandfather and friends all stood up in church and made wonderful speeches about him. Not an easy task. He will be sorely missed by many.
This simple wooden Christmas decoration seemed a fitting post, with the image of the church and the dark background.
Simply lovely.
What a sad day
... somehow sadness at Christmas time seems harder than at other times of the year with so much 'in your face jolliness and extravagance' across the media.
How truly awful for Roberts family & friends! So very young, you can hardly make sense of a loss like that. A very draining emotional day for all but the family will have taken some comfort from all who were there. What courage they had to stand up for their beloved Robert.
Now comes the even harder bit.
Your Christmas decoration is perfect.
