Don't know where, don't know when ... by jamibann

Don't know where, don't know when ...

But I'm guessing round about 1970, when I was in my sketching mode! Ha ha! I remember my clothes so well. The pinafore was navy 'faux' leather with a zipper up the front, bought, with my own savings, from my mum's 'clubby book'. The sweater came from Marks and Spencers, and was bought for me by my mum. It was a special treat, and how I loved that outfit! This image was on one of dad's slides - I don't believe I've seen it before. I don't know where it was taken, but we must have been visiting someone, as it's not our home. Seems it might have been around Christmas, as it looks like there is a wreath, or decoration on the back of the door.
What a wonderful image, such great memories it must bring back.

Treasure. I know just what you mean about remembering particular outfits from early years.
And my mum used a clubby book at times too.... .so exciting when they arrived. So perhaps our online purchases are just a development from that!!!

Loved jumpers (that's what we called these) and turtle necks. I had a black and white wool herringbone jumper I always wore with a white turtleneck. Maybe black tights (thicker opaque stockings). BTW isn't it nice that we both speak English.

@happypat On looking through dad's slides, my younger brother featured much more often than either me or my elder brother. He must have been cuter than us! Ha ha!

@sarah19 You're right ... the club book must was effectively a pre-cursor to online ordering, and you didn't have to pay up front. Dangerous, potentially!

@jamibann 😊 and I used Freeman's catalogue when the children were young and I couldn't face trips to Aberdeen. Indeed the first time we stayed at Pat and Harry's farm B&B @happypat ..randomly chosen from a B&B book Allan bought ) we all tumbled out of the car in a lovely shade of dark pink!
Pat remembers it too I'm sure!!
Happy days!

@sarah19 Yes so clear in my mind, four little faces above four pink T shirts! What a massive good thing was that! 🥰

@jamibann I think mums do think boys are cuter….girls are more outgoing & independent whereas my boys were so clingy….I can’t believe they upped sticks & moved to the other side of the world!
