Looking back over the landscape as we descended Lochnagar on Sunday. I was glad that our friend was behind us, as he provided the perfect silhouette for my photo!
Issi your photos are stunning... I have never climbed like you or even been in such places as you...I admire & enjoy all of your wonderful adventures etc.. Big Fav
@christinav We never go out in winter above snow level without crampons and ice axe. I've never had to use the ice axe in earnest, but the crampons have been used on several occasions. I also carry micro crampons as they can be just the trick for small icy patches and are somewhat easier to pull on and off than the full crampons! My winter rucksack weighs a ton, as I also carry an emergency shelter, survival blanket, first aid kit, head torch, goggles, back up batteries, phone charger, spare clothing, map, compass, and of course some food! I don't plan on using most of those things, but you just never know, conditions in winter can change very quickly, and we are all just a bit of luck away from a sprained ankle or some such thing. It's all part of the fun though!
