Little pops of pink by jamibann

Little pops of pink

I was doing a tidy up in the garden on Tuesday afternoon, and I noticed these delicate little 'flowers' on the evergreens at the back of our garden. I thought they looked like an infestation of pink ladybirds!
Oh my goodness....they so do.....What is that plant....I so need one !!!

Wow, they do.

@cutekitty I think it's just a common cypress. You need to look closely to see the beauty. They are just space fillers in our back garden and in their entirety are not particularly attractive!

Quite fascinating little seed pods I presume… they look very unusual & I’m very partial to any spruce or fir tree, the smell alone I love. To have pink bits too well excellent! We are tree planting at the moment so all tree chat is interesting to me.

Bugs! That's the first think I though of too. I guess these are this tree's "cones." Well spotted.

These are so lovely!

@olivetreeann I'd suspect new growth as there are other tiny cones on the plant. Whatever it is, it's lovely close up.

@happypat And we're considering taking one massive one down ... and topping the others. I love trees but when you have big ones in your garden, houses all around, and storms like we've been getting, it's a worry We need to plant smaller ones that are less of a danger to neighbouring properties. But it's a massive step to take them down, and costly too!

I met this once in the Botanical Garden. These are Lawson cypress male flowers.
