Home from Inveroran at 8pm Thursday, and by 8am we were away again on a Fast and Furious Friday walk nearer to home. A couple of Munros we'd done before, but the others hadn't. A long cycle in - 13km on rough, very rough, road. Then an 18km walk followed by the worst ever cycle back on the same rough, very rough road ... meant to be downhill, but didn't seem like it. A strong headwind put pay to any feeling of downhill. It was a very long ride home, and each bump became agony. The three on electric bikes whizzed through it all, whilst the three of us, with friend Caroline, on regular mountain bikes had to grit our teeth and bear it. An hour's uphill cycle in became and hour and a half cycle back to the car. A long old day. Home at 8pm last night. We've covered 83km on foot, and 26km on the bike, over 4 days, (not to mention about 8 hours in the car) but feel really happy to have been able to take advantage of the weather. The forecast is not good next week! Carpe Diem and all that! Apologies for the mass upload, and lack of commenting, but internet was not good in the west, and time was not aplenty. However, normal service should be resumed this week. :-)
Fantastic achievement - bravo! Those bumpy bike rides on bad roads are really gruelling; I feel your pain! Well done on getting through the challenges.
It's horrid riding into a headwind. I recall cycling in the Netherlands about 30km into a headwind, seemed to take us forever. The return journey a few days later took about a third of the time.
I get tired and need joint rub just reading about your adventures. I can't imagine what it must have felt like doing them! But this view appears to be worth the ride from ....!
