I brought in a kettle and mugs to dad's room at the home where he lives, so that we could do the everyday 'normal' thing of making a cup of tea when I'm visiting. However, I'm having difficultly retaining the mugs, even though I keep them in his cupboard. The cleaning staff keep taking them away. So, my SIL had the bright idea of having a couple of mugs made for dad, so that staff know they're not standard issue. She chose a wraparound image of dad, me and my two brothers John and Steve. It's a photo she took on dad's 80th birthday trip to Stirling and it's taken on top of the Wallace Monument. I rather liked her idea and dad and I will be christening them on Saturday.
terrific idea. I would love to take some proper china mugs into mums room but it just seems an insurmountable obstacle! The morning tea keeps arriving in plastic meantime :(
What a nice idea. It could help his memory too. What is it with staff (and other patients) at care homes! I got to where I didn't take anything personal when mom was in the nursing home.
