Stag Ballroom at Mar Lodge by jamibann

Stag Ballroom at Mar Lodge

The timber ballroom (for estate staff balls) was originally built close to the second Mar Lodge at Corriemulzie, but was moved to its present site in 1898. The interior is of wood and there are over 2000 stags' skulls adoring the walls and roof. It's quite a sight to behold.
Quite the interior

Wow! I've never seen anything like it. I do hope each of those stags was taken for food, not for sport or to add to one's collection of animal heads.

Isn’t this wonderful & I know how many there are in the full picture! Such an impressive room & very Scottish! Stags have to be culled so I see nothing wrong in this.

I'm not sure I could cope with so many skulls. We had a friend in Germany who had a room displaying skulls of stags they had killed
