Scolty Hill

On Thursday evening I returned to our Fishing Week in Banchory, having fulfilled my Walking Week duties. On Friday morning I walked up Scolty hill, which has a tower on top that can be climbed by means of an internal metal spiral staircase. I try to make a point of visiting this hill every year. This is the view out of one of the 'windows' from inside the tower.

Written on the window ledge were the words ' Love will get you : Killed, Broke, Insane. But, stay strong. You only get 1 life. Don't waste it on love.' How cynical and how sad, I thought. Someone clearly had had a bad experience with love.

Goodness- that would be depressing to read after conquering the staircase! But at least you get a beautiful view to override it.
