The Apple Ugly, that is. I didn't do it justice; because it looks mighty tasty in this image. Before it's sliced into these pretty pieces, it's anything but pretty. In fact, it's downright ugly. Think partially deflated, wet football kicked around in some sand for a while; and you'll get the idea. That's the charm of it!
Orange Blossom Bakery & Café here in the Outer Banks is famous for its scrumptious Apple Uglies, and a line forms each morning to get them. They named them years ago, and the name stuck! We sliced ours in haste to taste the deep-fried, cinnamon-apple goodness; so my picture didn't do the Ugly justice. I'll just have to commit the football's, er Ugly's, ugliness to memory!

This looks absolutely delicious! Your photo makes it look so nice that it is hard to imagine it being ugly ...I suppose that you will just have to get another and show us the full product next time.
@dmcoile We would have bought another if we could have, Dianna; but alas, we were off and running to do other things that day. This is the only pic I got. :-)
