This: Window, railing, waves, sea, sky.
That: Heavy rain, coastal flooding, high surf, gusty winds, rip currents.
This image is from this morning, and the weather intensified throughout the day. 16" of water now covers the only road in and out of this beach house, so we're stuck here. Just us, this shaking house, and the fierce ocean water slamming into the pillars beneath us. Prayers for a safe night sure would be appreciated.
@cejaanderson Thank you for commenting, Jane. We have enough supplies for a few days, and we can walk for more if necessary. We were supposed to leave for home in the morning; but with the road under water, we can't drive anywhere. We're watching The Weather Channel hoping to hear some good news. There's a terrible storm going on out there right now, and it's a bit unsettling; but so far so good. We're hoping that, by some miracle, the road water will recede enough for us to get through it in the morning.
Oh my goodness, Janet! That's scary. Not on the plans for a vacation. Do hope this passes you shortly. Will be praying for the safety of you all tonight - and looking for a post tomorrow that you're all ok (or hopefully on the road home.) This photo really sums up your day!
I love watching the ocean in weather like this. However, I do like how you captured the storm through the window. It sets the mood for what is happening on the other side of the glass. Nicely done.
OMG what looked so idyllic a few days ago has suddenly turned frightening. Hope you have enough food, supplies and a torch just in case. Thinking of you, stay safe Janet.
@lhart Thanks so much, Lynne. Thankfully, we made it through the flood waters on the road leading out of the beach house and are safely home after a tense drive. Now, we're hoping no issues develop with our vehicle as a result of the deep water we drove it through.
@paulaw Thank you very much, Paula. It was an unsettling situation, and we're happy to be out of there and safely home now. It's no fun being pinched in the dark between the raging sea and a washed out road.
Oh my goodness, Janet! What an ordeal you went through on your vacation. So glad you made it home safely. Shoo! Excellent picture to mark the experience with.
@pej Thank you so much, Paul. I hope you were able to enjoy your vacation despite the weather. I sure wish we'd have had more sunshine, but it's still nice to get away regardless!
