I’m thankful for the gift of wind chimes. Chilly breezes bring beautiful melodies to the hill! I’m a bit in love with wind chimes. A small, tinkling set swings from the juniper just off the front porch. A mid-size set tuned to the song Amazing Grace graces the deck beneath the towering oaks. This large, deeply-toned and soothing set rings from a branch of hemlock along the enchanting path to the woods gate. The delightful, familiar sounds are “home."
I like viewing this image best on the black background.
I’m dedicating November to giving thanks! For years, I’ve kept a gratitude journal in which I jot down things that I’m thankful for. During this month when we’ll celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, I’m going to take my gratitude for God’s good gifts one step further by photographing a particularly meaningful gift each day for my 365 project! I've always viewed the subjects of my images as gifts, but I'm looking forward to this month of intentionally labeling them as such. This will enable me to spend a bit more time dwelling on God's goodness and offering the thanks that He deserves. If anyone would like to join me in this celebration of grace, please do! I’ll be tagging my images: all-is-grace.
I love wind chimes too! Right now there are six in the backyard and two in the front! And one in the shed! I'll miss hearing them now that the windows must stay closed for a while. Love how you've captured them here.
@olivetreeann Thank you for commenting! Ohh, with all of those chimes that you mentioned, I can imagine the lovely symphony at your place when the wind blows. There's something so cheerful and relaxing about the sound of chimes. After a long Winter, it'll be a real treat for you to hear them ringing in Spring breezes.
I looked at the exif info to see what shutter speed you used, figuring it would have to be a quick one to catch a swaying wind chime with such clarity. I've not heard of chimes being "tuned" to a particular song; what a splendid idea. I too have several chimes in my yard, all of which I have to bring in when wind is in the forecast. Pleasant chiming becomes nerve-jarring clanging in 50 mph gusts! Lovely background this picture has and I like where you put your watermark.
@lyndemc Thank you for all of your thoughtful comments! Yes, many of Woodstock's chimes are tuned to a song. When the wind blows just right, one can pick out the notes! When we occasionally get high winds up here on the hill, the chimes do go a bit crazy; but at that point, our main concern is the bending, creaky, towering oaks. They're quite close to the house...yikes!
