Mike said he liked it one Spring day years ago when he saw it blooming in front of some house along some road somewhere. He doesn’t often voice an unsolicited opinion of flowers; so when he said he liked it without me asking, I set out to find out what it was. Not long after that day, I planted this clump of the sweet, little purple perennial flowers that struck my husband’s fancy — Phlox subulata ‘Emerald Blue’ — at the start of the steps leading up past the pond to the front door. I wanted him to see it as he came and went, day in and day out. I wanted him to smile. It's blooming now. I love to see him smile.

So pretty on black - I love phlox and they certainly seem to grow well. Several neighbors have them in front and they always make me smile - liked your comments on the picture!
