With the water aerobics class at the gym unexpectedly canceled, I thought I’d jump into the Zumba class. Nope. I quickly realized I didn’t have my workout clothes in my bag. I did, however, have my camera in the car; so I headed toward Murrysville Wetlands envisioning a pleasant walk around the water, perhaps to the trill of red-winged blackbirds. Nope. It started raining. Fighting a grumpy mood, I pulled into the parking lot to regroup; but then I saw a Canada goose incubating an egg on a small island. That was enough to get me out of the car and into the rain with camera in hand; and on my way goose-ward, I spied this pretty creeping Charlie. As intrigued now as I was when I first learned of its unique, square stems all those years ago, I got down low and felt grumpy melt away as the shutter clicked. Even as gravel pressed into my knees and elbows, my day brightened. Thanks, goose!
I praise you, Lord, for the goose. And the square stems. And the brightened day.
What a lovely story you tell. You let a secret out because I never imagined you could be grumpy Janet! I too had my water aerobics class cancelled today - and we weren't told until we were all in the pool. I then went out camera in hand, but it started bucketing down with rain. So glad your day brightened and you have this lovely bright plant to show for it.
@helenhall@sunnygirl@pej@mittens@lyndemc@janeandcharlie@jackies365@novab Thank you all so very much for your kind comments on my grumpy-turned-bright day. It was the second time in a week that I showed up at the gym for the water aerobics class only to find it canceled. I had way more fun photographing the creeping Charlie than I would have had at the class — there's always a bright side! :)
