Finally! I’ve wondered about the name of this charming plant for many springs; and after some research today, I now know it as White Campion. It pops up on the roadside down by the mailbox. The unusual puffy calyx with maroon ribs always draws me in for a closer look; and now that I know the flowers to be sweet-scented, I can’t wait to sniff them. I must, however, wait for another dreary day like today; because the flowers are nocturnal. They open in the evening and close by morning unless it’s an overcast, rainy day. On second thought, I could go down there after dark when moonlight might be making a magical scene. Yes, that would be fun!
I praise you, Lord, for the beauty of roadside wildflowers.
