This morning the skiers got out earlier so I was able to shoot this one. Looking at it it must be a wakeboard as the wake is pretty big and he's right in and close. When I tried it years ago it was water skis and snow skis but now it seems to be boards...and you show your age with skis. Hopefully I get a closer shot soon.
It looks like it might be wake surfing, wake boarders aren’t usually that close to the boat. Wake surfers use a different board and when they are up they let go of the tow rope and surf the wake. Wake boarders are further back in the wake so they can jump it and do aerial tricks.
