@ziggy77 You are in Wales I think? You should see Brimstones, he's usually the first you would see in early spring, the yellow wings are unmistakeable.

@jesika2 it is a fascinating little creature. How do tell the difference between male and femail? Is it colors?

@pej It is indeed colour. If you can bear to look through Mrs B's Great Adventure, you will see some pale green/cream ones that's Mrs B and some with yellow wings, that's Mr B. You can even distinguish male from female at the pupal stage just before they eclose (emerge).
