White Ghost by jesika2

White Ghost

Playing again with the Oly TG5 (Tuffy) in focus stacking mode. I was searching the Knapweed leaves for the exuvia I had found yesterday and instead discovered this minute (3mm) white creature. I thought it was an exuvia of a different insect until its tail lifted and a tiny yellow droplet was expelled. Look closely and you can see the yellow colouring at the tail in the top picture and the droplet above the body on the lower image.

@susiemc @susie1205 Thank you, Ladies. I have long been fascinated by the tiny world even attempting reversed lens photography which my wobbly hands don't really like. The little Oly Tough has revealed minute details which even a dedicated macro lens fails to disclose unless the image is cropped. This very tiny white creature would have been a vague blob with any other camera/lens I own.

@koalagardens Thank you very much. My eyes saw a tiny white blob, Tuffy showed me a ghostly insect, one which didn't much like being photographed and made its displeasure very clear!

Great close-up!

Do you think this is an immature stage of this insect. Will his body darken and harden as it ages a bit? Great macro!

I love your macro shots of insects and will enjoy following you.

@365karly1 Thanks, Karly for your welcome comments and for deciding to follow my erratic progress. I have no idea what any of these tiny insects are and today found something even odder. I need to find a source of insect knowledge far greater than mine.
