2 years ago I found, to my surprise and delight, 8 Brown Argus butterflies near the Millennium Bridge, York. A fellow watcher saw 12. Great news for a butterfly which is quite localised.
Last year, despite searching throughout the season, I failed to find any.
A few weeks ago I was sure I'd seen one flying, but "sure" doesn't count without proof, so couldn't record it.
August 11 I DEFINITELYfound 2 and saw at least one several times. Yesterday I found one "straight out of the box", this one, here showing the beautiful underwings.
Brown Argus.
