Best viewed large. This was another shot taken quickly at sunset before the gates were locked at the City of Refuge. I really liked the textures and tones so I edited it to black and white. I kind of liked the color of the sun as it fell in the ocean so I used selective coloring to keep it. I'm not sure that works. what do you think?
I agree with Caz ... The focal point is not the sun, but rather the tree and the multitude of textures that you have captured. Definitely think the b&w makes it all that more interesting. Very nice!
if you wanted to play with it, you could make the sun larger and move it where ever on the horizon. the shapes and textures are really lovely, however i maybe would have increased contrast a bit. larger, i don't miss the contrast so much
I agree with the comments above. The sun does add just a bit of interest, but is too small to be effective. For a B&W it is nearly all gray, so adding contrast might shift in some blacks and whites. The composition is good with the trees encircling the center structure.
I love the composition, with the large tree leaning over the hut, then the palm tree and water. However I'm in agreement about the sun looking so tiny, it's more of a distraction to me. And more contrast in the B&W would be nice.
Is the sun so small because of the 24mm focal length?
Lovely shot, I like all the textures and the b&w. agree about the sun, probably too small to make it a focal point. Great idea though, it would be interesting to see it if you tweak as suggested above (ie larger and even moved).
