This beautiful raised bed of hyacinths and windflowers was in my album at this time of year last year, but I couldn't resist. My dear husband built the raised bed and filled it with bulbs for my birthday a couple years ago and I love it. What a sweet man and a happy-making gift especially with grey skies. I'll be leaving for a photography course in Death Valley later today so i probably won't be posting or commenting until I return on Monday or Tuesday. Have a great week.
Stunning & you can almost smell the hyacinths from here Jane.....love in those little blue ones, the name escapes me for the moment, I have some in my garden. What a man you have there!!!!!!!
These are beautiful. Such wonderful cheery colors. P.S. Not photo related, but was reading your comment on my wall and wondered, did you deliver your children yourself? Do you still live on a farm? I love your photos.
@skstein I gave birth to them. Soon after the experience with the lamb, I went to nursing and midwifery school and became a nurse midwife. I "delivered" about 1000 babies. We now live on 65 acres in Oregon where we have a big garden but no chickens or sheep any longer. We've thought of raising both but there are coyotes in abundance and cougar ear by so we don't want to entice them to come close and eat our cats and dog
Now I'm REALLY jealous. Death Valley is wonderful, and I know some unusual places to go, some just outside the park. I enjoyed your biography in the Comments section.
How awesome Jane! I love all the lovely wild flowers and colors! You sound like you are going to have a Blast in Death Valley...Bring on back all that knowledge you soak up there and help us!! ;p lol! Have Fun! Cant wait untill you get back!!
This is such a gorgeous explosion of spring! I have very littl eoverlap in my bulb beds, however I'm limited to what the seer and moles won't eat so I suppose that's why! (no windflowers :( ) All the blue and purple tones just delight my eye, and the delicate white hyacinth at center anchors the photo.
