This was the second fall we visited on our anniversary weekend trip. I love the fall colors contrasting with the dark pool.
Thanks so much for the continued support. I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed in the moment so I am sorry if I am not having the time to comment I would like.
Is this Fall Creek Falls in TN? If so my daughters and I have been there. It is a great hike to go on and a wonderful fall to view and play near. If it isn't in TN where is this one? Great capture, I love how you got everything in focus, I'm not so good at that.
You have achieved excellent exposure here in a high dynamic range situation: perfect exposure on the rocky walls and waterfall, yet sunny spots above not overexposed...would you share your secret?!
@ericdibosco well...I took bracketed shots thinking I would do an HDR (bracketing the ISO), but I didn't like the cheesy way the HDR looked. So I took the most balanced shot in LR and lightened the shadows, darkened the highlights, used the graduated ND tool on the bit of sky, and then brought the light back on the tree using the exposure brush. Hope that helps
@jgpittenger Thanx, Jane, it helps a lot, especially for those who have Lightroom (which I don't!), but I often use some of these techniques when converting from raw to jpeg (in Canon's Digital Photo Professional...certainly not as powerful as Lightroom, though). The ND tool, unfortunately, I do not have in my software...
I agree that HDR-rendering can become very cheesy. I usually strive for a more natural look when I use HDR (I used HDR for "Power" http://365project.org/ericdibosco/365/2013-10-17 for instance).
