Bufflehead On the Siuslaw

I was out practicing photographing seagulls flying again and saw this lone beauty swimming along in the sunlight...which we managed to have a day of! Best viewed large.
Thanks so much for your comments, suggestions, favs. I especially am appreciative of suggestions and helpful critique because it helps me learn...though I know it takes more time
Lovely photo Jane. Can't criticise it at all.

as Ross says the panormaic format works well, always a decision to make about where to place a lone bird and how much water to leave in :)

I finally managed to get a few good shots of these guys when I was in Reno a few weekends back. I can't believe that YOU...are asking for pointers...critique...your work is so amazing!

Great stuff! I like your 16:9 crop for this image, giving the Bufflehead (we have similar ones called Dabchicks) lots of room to move into.

I agree with the other comments that this is a lovely photo and composition. I don't believe it is a bufflehead - perhaps an immature male hooded merganser?
