Life has been crazy since I got home and I was gone from 5;30- Am until night yesterday so I didn't get a chance to upload or look at your pictures. I will remedy that now!
Wow, I agree, Gorgeous and I'm so envious of this star shot! FAV for sure and sign me up. Actually my husband bought me a super fast wide angle lens last Christmas but it was among the camera gear stolen last March and its hard to re-buy something that expensive 3 months after purchasing it somehow. I don't know what lens you used here, but what a shot! And great work on your part, painting the tree with light and capturing stars too.
@trinda i know what you mean re rebuying...so sad re your getting burglared. this was with Nikkor 14-24 2.8. Definitely my favorite lens for night shots
Gorgeous, when viewed on black. The light painting of the bristlecone pine is really beautiful, against that rich blue night sky. Light painting and night shots... more "to do" techniques to learn. :)
Very striking Jane, I like the light on the tree bringing out all that wonderful texture and detail in the foreground against the beautiful starry background.
So cool -- you've really mastered the light painting side of this, which I find so very hard. Love the dramatic contrasts and the starry sky. Back home from the meetup. We have a group visiting in May (first week) in Chicago -- you should think about it!
@jgpittenger Pam Knowler @pamknowler , Rosie Kind @rosiekind, Sarah McKeenan and a friend of Sarah's are coming in on April 30 and staying til May 7th or 8th (can't remember off-hand). Rosie Kerr and Louise&Ken are coming in sometime during that week with their husbands. Four England folks are at the Radisson Blue which apparently had a good rate. I'm not sure if anyone needs a roommate but you should check. Osia is going to put it on her calendar in case she can make it. Junko and I thought we'd make suggestions closer to the time and depending on weather so that people can do some things as a group, or things in smaller groups if they want. I'm guessing it will be an ebb and flow sort of meetup. I'm planning to take most of the week off and hang out with folks as much as possible, and think Junko's doing the same.
Wonderful light painted tree trunk against that wonderful sky full of stars. Love night photography and hoping to get out to the desert for some clear skies one of these days. And, also to Chicago in May, but that seems so far away right now that I cannot even think of planning it. We have a trip to Africa planned in November, and maybe after the holidays, and after the snow and ice has melted in Chicago I will be able to think about visiting. It sounds like it will be an incredible meetup!
