After photographing the huge waves featured in yesterday's photo, we went looking for some coffee. Jim was driving. He pulled into the parking area, and I gasped stop, open the trunk. He said something about not being parked yet. I said I don't care and got out the door while the car was still rolling. He never even saw the amazing rainbow that I'd jumped out to shoot. No time for tripod or getting the settings as I would have chosen. I so rarely ever see a full rainbow since we live surrounded by tall trees and here was one with almost a decent composition. I got two shots before it faded.
Thanks so much for taking both my Cape Arago Lighthouse and my big surf shot to the PP. I'm so pleased you liked them. Thanks for your visits, comments, suggestions, favs
So beautiful. Glad you weren't hurt jumping out of the moving car! You never have a minute to spare with rainbows though, I've missed some because I didn't stop on the spot.
They do say if you see something you think that would look nice stop and take the shot! Nice rainbow against grey clouds and the light on the ground is wonderful.
Perfect, so perfect, and I am so glad you were at the right place at the right time, and you were able to capture it!! Big FAV!
I have been chasing rainbows here for quite some time, and not only they are elusive, but we just don't ever get enough rain to experience them. After the heave rains we had a couple of days ago, my husband called me in the middle of the day, and told me he had just seen the most amazing rainbow, and that I should get my camera out and run to the beach....which, I did, but there was no rainbow anywhere in sight! The only people who captured it were those with their cell phones who happened to be downtown where it was briefly seen, and then it faded quickly!
Stunning! You are so right about not catching a full one very often - glad he made it to the parking lot when you spotted it rather than on the highway! You get so few chances at this. The colors of the sky and those clouds go so nicely with it.
You followed one of my new rules. Get the picture that is presented. Sometimes spending time trying to get the right settings and/or getting out the tripod means we get nothing. LR and other programs can correct a lot of setting errors. This is amazing.
