This was an experiment. My underwater point and shoot has an option to take in camera focus stacked images. It was raining hard on and off yesterday so when we went on our hike I took that camera with me in hopes of finding some potential fungi. There aren't a lot out yet but I did find these. Each one is actually about maybe 0.3 cm across so the camera took a bigger than life shot and did pretty well with the focus stacking I think.

I love this image! Fungi in general are wonderful and this is such a great example. The damp surfaces and small reflections are so good. your experiment can definitely be labelled a success. I got a bit lost - but is it correct that your camera took a series of shots with the focus at different depths and then amalgamated them into this one result? :)
I'm intrigued -- an underwater camera with stacked focusing capability? Clearly not my Canon point and shoot. The image of this fungus is wonderfully dimensional!
