One of the things that was most thrilling about the Palouse trip was what I got to learn about light and shadows and how they are such huge factors in good photographs. I realized when I got back home to another week of overcast skies, that I've never really grocked the expression "it's all about the light" because so much of the time we have flat light. Now I see how quickly the light changes, how much difference the angle makes, how profoundly it impacts the lines and textures. I feel pretty dumb to just finally actually being able to "see" it! Better late than never.
I took several different shots of this scene and seeing how the shape and placement of the shadows were impacted by how much the clouds were covering the sun was amazing.
