Oregon State Animal

Well, this isn't really our state animal but it maybe should be. I remember when we first moved here how horrified I was by these banana slugs. At the local Rhododendron Festival they have slug races!

I think that is even uglier than the kind of slugs we have! But interesting to see what lives in other parts of the country, or world!

My son attends UC Santa Cruz. There mascot is the Banana Slug. They are truly interesting animals. According to the rangers in Redwood National Park, they will eat any plant life with the exception of Redwood trees.
