Best on black. I just made it through the end of 2013 in my purging of my external hard drive and found this shot that I hadn't done anything with before. With the big salmon die off we have had this year with the low water in the spawning streams, it seems particularly poignant. I have been in awe every time I've gone to watch the salmon spawn at the incredible determination to continue their species.

That fish is so majestic. We have a fish hatchery near here where they try to help them around the dam. When they come to spawn they will die soon, so they harvest the eggs and give them a good start before releasing them where they will have a better chance to mature.
Great capture. We saw this amazing sight in Port Hope in October. It was gut wrenching to watch the salmon expending so much energy trying to swim upstream only to be washed back down again.
