Had a successful afternoon photo shot with my nephew in tow. I was up to Sebago Lake. My new 365 friend @kerfree took a picture I think is from the same spot. ( http://365project.org/kerfree/365/2015-01-20)
I have a challenge from @psychegrrrl to show movement. Now probably she meant to have a little blurr. But though it wasn't as cold as I expected at mid twenties and icey underfoot I wasn't keen on dragging out my tripod to play with motion blur. So hope she will accept this as my first attempt.
@psychegrrrl Here is my first attempt to answer your challenge. @kerfree I think I took this in the same spot as the picture you captured the other day. My good luck that they were coming in to back it up so I could get some good close ups.
What a gorgeous sight! Looking at the tracks behind one of the boats, I'd say there has been movement there! In such a lovely setting, better you go again and enjoy it some more another day!
This is lovely...the light reflection on the ice is great. Looks like fun .. if I was about 40 years younger!! Thought now sure my balance and skills ever have been good enough for this sport. Love image .. love that sky!
I like the composition - three is always good - and fascinated by the image. I've never heard of ice-boating before but I can imagine it must be very fast and exhilarating.
What?? You didn't want to drag your tripod out in the freezing weather??? ;) I really like the textures and colors on the ice and horizon, along with the triangulated composition. A lovely shot.
On a personal note, I went to summer camp on Sebago Lake as a young girl, in the 1970's. It does my heart good to see this. Thank you. :)
@rosiekerr I know the location of a couple of those. Always thought that they would be fun for the children. Myself I went camping in the 60's at the state park with my parents and once with our girl scout troop.
Joan, how fabulous your drive up here was rewarded with such a great photo opportunity! Yes you found my go-to spot at the top of Jordan Bay - how did you get the ice sailors to pose for you??? Beautiful image!
what an interesting scene! i don't know that i've ever seen ice-boating in action before... this is a lovely composition... and the sky in the background is awesome!
