Living in Maine it takes a lot to impress me with lighthouses. This lighthouse impressed me. I have better pictures taken with me with my camera. Home tomorrow, yeah!
Kudos to whoever painted this lighthouse; I would think those stripes would be a challenge to get on there so perfectly. May the remainder of your journey be a safe one.
I think all the coastal light houses have their own unique paint jobs... perhaps to orient those lost at sea??? Did you take the ferry? Happy trails and joyous reunion with your camera.
@vignouse Oh please do there is a series of photos that I saw taken of some of Frances lighthouses some even on the lighthouse as the waves rashes over it. Do you know the ones I mean? I had a framed poster for years of one of these.
This is a fantastic lighthouse. We are starting to plan a trip to the U.S. next year, which includes New York. I will have to try and go up to Maine and see the beautiful coastline.
Oh, great shot! We used to vacation in the Outer Banks, Cape Hatteras, before they moved the lighthouse. We used to rent a house on stilts, right on the ocean along the hurricane route. Used to make the girls climb up to the top to see the view. Heh heh...
