Look carefully there is one lonely Canadian Goose in this picture. The sound of him honking will haunt my dreams tonight. I was picking my gf up to go out for lunch (another Restaurant week splurge). The sun came out after a rainy morning and I grabbed my camera and left early. Pulled up to Estes Lake and saw a Canadian goose in the water. Grabbed my camera and tried shooting but he was moving away from me honking a sad song the whole time. Got to the edge of ice and climbed out still honking loudly. Can only assume he lost his mate.
Crying over you, crying over you
Yes, now you're gone and from this moment on
I'll be crying, crying, crying, crying
Yeah crying, crying, over you - Roy Orbison
Only had my shorter lens but think this picture tells the story of how small this goose was feeling in this great big world.
Oh, I feel for the sad and lonely goose. Which I could make it feel better and tell it everything will be OK. I hope it finds its family or another group to join. Sad story.
what a sad story, but you witnessed something special and connected with the understanding that animals do feel. fav for the sorrowful beauty of the whole capture and story
love the alternate layers of orange/yellow and blues, also the sense of real space.. i'm loving the reflections too.. Joan this is a gorgeous image..
unfortunately for the goose, this is life in the raw. sweetness and light for most animals happens only in faerie tales.. having said that, my heart goes out to this lonely soul - hope the call is answered and the present loneliness ends..
This is really a powerful scene and, while beautiful, so very very sad. You've created a moving story through the image -- title and song accompany it well.
