As my good friend Joyce Steuck says, "Life is good" My first coffee since Thursday. I should be going home this morning. I mean chocolate and mint give me acid reflux, nuts are a no-no, gotta limit my cheese, no fried foods, so damn don't take my coffee away.
Those that guessed or knew like my sister @janiskay it was indeed a hospital room. My cancer operation in 2016 and subsequent radiation left me with internal scarring. It seems I have had a bowel blockage. Enough said. I went to the emergency room during the latest attach per instructions of my gastro doctor, and it is confirmed. Not much they can do but give me a low fiber diet and hope for the best because the operation can lead to more problems. Gotta love cancer it is the gift that keeps on giving as many of you know. If it isn't cancer, its the cure, but you have to enjoy all you can while you can. 365 is one of my great enjoyments.
Oh my, well if it’s not one thing it’s another. Hopefully they will provide a list of what you can eat, that would sure help. Hope you can manage a new eating regimen without too much trouble.
Hello...the new Joan!?
Whilst I realise that you're not enjoying this one little bit, please, PLEASE follow their advice...and be out with your camera PDQ. 365 needs you...
Yes you said it,"Enjoy Life while you can" You seem to have an awesome attitude. Adapting to the ever changing new you. Glad you will be going home soon.
Enjoy that coffee :) Hope you can find some good treats as you have such a great positive attitude to your dilemma! I have been helping a good friend through her cancer treatment this year - and you don't hear about all these horrible side effects of treatment! She's had a terrible time, but like you, a great positive attitude. All the best - and continue on :)
Chocolate and mint would be hard for me- not coffee as you know! But the others are right- you have a great attitude and I'm sure you will adjust to the new diet and make it work for you. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers!
I had no idea Joan, must have missed this all somewhere along the line. Like you, I have similar gastro issues due to massive invasive surgery five years ago. There are good days and not so good days. Eating the correct food is a certain way to live a more comfortable life. Wishing you all the best and hope you follow the dieticians plan. Ps, I cannot even drink coffee ;-)
@ludwigsdiana Basically what I have been told so far is each person has to find what their body will tolerate. I know I had been increasing fiber in recent months and that probably explains why I have had more incidents. But the good thing is I now know what it is. Knowledge is power.
Oh, Joan! As soon as this photo opened on my computer, I gave a gasp because I could tell you were in the hospital. I'm sorry you aren't well, and that it's an ongoing battle. But yes, at least you have coffee. Do take care, Joan, and enjoy the things in life like 365 that give you pleasure.

I have problems with certain foods too because of bowel problems and oesophagus problems, but I can't do without my cups of tea.
