Happy Birthday Louise by joansmor

Happy Birthday Louise

I am putting this up to celebrate Louise's Birthday. I am imagining her and I and Ken taking pictures together in Nova Scotia. This picture is in one way similar to a picture she posted that I love only her colorful boats were bigger. I took this in 1997 in film. So this is a scan. This is excellent for a scan of an 18 year-old print... and it's a nice river-scape too.

It came out so well for a scanned shot! This is back when we didn't use processing for every shot! Excellent!

@vignouse The scan is about 15 years old itself.

It looks like all the boats are lined up for a parade! Pretty shot!

@joansmor Even more impressive then - scanners didn't have the quality then that they do today and their controlling software is much improved too.

@vignouse I wish I had a better memory. I have been thinking about this and I know I didn't have a digital then but wonder if I got digital when I had it processed. But then I would think I would have more from that trip. Could I have made the scan at Walmarts where the machine would have been better. I am spending too much time trying to remember. But like you it does seem good for a scan and an old scan.

The quality and the depth of colour suggests to me that this may have been a scan of the negatve (or a diapositive slide?) in which case, it was certainly done professionally. Don't worry about it - just enjoy that you have it.

Stunning shot:)

Joan, thank you! This is gorgeous and so very much like scenes around here! You know, don't you, that most of the movies shot around here in Lunenburg County are storied to be Coastal Maine! I suppose it's the fact that they can be filmed more inexpensively here in Canada and there's so little traffic congestion! But Joan, on either of our coasts, I'd enjoy a day of going out shooting with you!

@Weezilou This is Nova Scotia and I believe near Lunenberg. It was taken on one of the trips we took to that part Canada and has been a favorite of mine. Thought I should come to you on your birthday. LOL

Oh you have me stumped now! It's not in Lunenburg Harbour, but those red buildings suggest Lunenburg... If I ever see this spot, I know I'll remember it immediately!

And I know what you mean about that time period when we switched over to digital! I mucked it up even more by switching to video for awhile. Of course we never watched them, and I have no photos of some nice trips and visits! (What should we be watching out for next?!)
