My partner @msiegle gave me this; My challenge to you is to go on a walk (if the weather is cooperative) and stop every 21 steps, look around you and take a photo of anything near or far, macro or huge. Post a couple or more that turned out really well. If that doesn't work for you, give me a B&W photo of an interior space - not just an item in the interior, but the space itself.
I was going to go to "Fat Mans Loop" trail but the radar was much too colorful so we opted for Campbell Mesa and the Continental Loop. We started in clouds, then sun, then rain and a tiny bit of sleet but nothing ugly. Saw some Indian Paint brush blooms, the hike was very peaceful. At the end we saw the eagles nest but no siting of the pair who nests there every year.
I like the way you have looked in all directions for your shots -- all around you, down at the ground (and your companions feet) and up above at the sky and eagles' nest. Nice variety! The blossoms are interesting. I've never seen Indian Paint Brush, that I can recall.
What a great idea! Your finished challenge wonderful. There is a nice variety of colors, textures, shapes and you were careful to think about composition as you found your next subject. You deserved a Fav from me. great job girl!
@mcsiegle Thank you for the challenge, stopping to appreciate your surroundings is an important lesson. I do try to stop and turn around often to see what I have missed while my husband just waits patiently for me to catch up. @ceilidh Thank you, we love to hike, this town has a huge amount of trails- the FUTS(Flagstaff Urban Trail System) is a marvel. @kali66 I agree that taking the time to stop and take in what you've just walked by is important. @pdulis Thank you, I walk all the time but sometimes forget to take my camera- my goal is to find my "zen" which is absolute and utter silence. I feel fulfilled when I do. @francoise Thank you so much, To walk in nature is a gift. I feel so lucky that there are so many different trials in this town. @sugarlenks To walk and be in nature without cars etc is a gift. I am so grateful that there are so many options here. @megpicatilly Thank you, I almost always have my camera but never thought to make a diary of a hike- this was a great challenge. @octogenarian Thank you, I walk all the time but mostly to re-hab my knee but I now see the benefit to paying attention to what and where is around me. @nydelignorsk Thank you so much for the fav. I really enjoyed having to think about documenting my steps. It was a very fun time.
@pickerandagrinner It was a fun challenge- I need to stop more often (helps my old cranky knees too) so I can remember to see more of what nature is all about.
I like all the different shots that you took. So interesting to see and it gives the viewer more of an idea of where you walked and what you saw. What type of eagles are they? @joysabin
@stephanies Thank you,I liked this challenge from Ashley since it made me think about showing what I saw not just snapping at the pretty things on the trail.
I believe that they are Golden Eagles. I've seem then from a long distance and they don't appear to have the wing span of a Bald Eagle. Golden's do nest in this area.
