My oldest made this in wood shop years ago. I saved it from the dumpster as he was tired of it. Not that I have any real use for it but I think that it is cool and needs to be saved. It has counter weights on one end of the center arm but we really don't fling anything with it.
I like the composition of this, the movement you have in it & that it doesn't (quite) show the whole thing, Processing is cool too.
If ever you are in England, Warwick Castle has a working model. The day we visited they chose to show off the fireball & sent the flaming projectile hundreds of meters. Its very impressive. And dangerous.
I'm assuming that it is rather small ... perhaps when grandchildren arrive, they will have fun flinging! I can definitely related to not throwing out things like this.
@lizhammond I agree that the movement didn't really work all that well. I thought about doing a gif. I would love to see a real one but only for viewing purposes.
@francoise It is about 2 feet tall. The movement capture was not what I really wanted, still experimenting with continuous shooting mode.
@frappa77 Thank you, I wish that the movement of the arm worked better.
Interesting, I never knew that was what they were called or have long forgotten anyway. Your editing it pretty cool, I like the speed lines at the bottom.
