S is for Splash

My truly amateur attempt at splash photography. I have a long way to go but I gotta start somewhere.

I am honored to have had such wonderful comments and will splash again and again. Thank you!

@izzyromilly Thank you, not to get the lighting better. I will have to save for better lights. @jo38 Thank you so much, I kinda feel half way there. @stefneyhart Thank you very much for the fav. I had other 'S' ideas but I've always wanted to try this. I need to get an old shower curtain now.
@annied Thank you, I will now go to YouTube for a bit more insight. But better lights will be on my Christmas list.

I keep meaning to have a go at this but never have the time. Good attempt. I think it needs more light & a faster shutter speed. Keep going.

nice! I like the dim lighting, has a sort of fairy coloring

This is a brilliant start! I love the way you have frozen the water. Look forward to seeing more!

@deborah63 Thank you, learning all the time and having a blast. @paulmann Strobe lights might be next and I agree more light. @francoise My lighting was really not enough but gotta start somewhere. I was just happy to catch the splash. @megpicatilly I am going to invest in more/better lights but no really sure where to start. I guess youtube then back into LA for real sales help. @stephanies Thank you, the technique is a great deal of fun but more and better lights are on my wish list.

Great start. I really like that you haven't gone for a central composition for the glass and the way you have caught the water arcing across the image.

This guy is really good at both the practical shooting and the processing. http://www.gavtrain.com/?p=3724
(In my world) any plain white background will do doesn't need to be a reflector, so you only really need the off camera flash, tripod, remote shutter release. And towel!

Good first attempt. Another thing I've thought of trying, but never got around to so, good on you for getting started on the road.

@lizhammond Thank you, I am realizing that I need more toys- glass cubes and a off camera flash. That last bit will be a learning curve. Thank you for the link- he truly makes in the info understandable.

@gardencat Gotta start somewhere- try the link that Liz Hammond gave http://www.gavtrain.com/?p=3724 - this guy is so helpful.
