This is the Kaibab National Forest just north of the Grand Canyon along highway 67. There was a fairly recent fire. The aspens have started to come back but the trees will take much longer.
@miata2u As we drove through this area, which seemed to go on for miles, it is tough to remember and comprehend that fire is a basic and very necessary force of nature. @pdulis Thank you, I just liked the contrast of new growth to destroyed.
@susale Forest Fires are a good and bad thing, they remind us how fragile life is and also bring new life from destruction. The entire area of the fire was huge. @francoise Thank you, the aspens were a real contrast to the burnt trees. @jerome Thank you very much. @cjphoto Thank you, the burnt ground was a reminder of how Mother Nature makes use of everything.
What a picture of stark contrasts this makes. The dead pointy trunks and the small yellow trees and the green trees in the back and foreground, very unusual.
@stephanies The aftermath of a fire can really be interesting. I've seen trees that have weathered flames and just keep growing. This fire must have been very intense.
