Age gets to us all. My garlic press, aged approximately 65 years, has begun to oxidize. When your garlic turns black it's time to look for a new one. I have had this for 40+ years and my Grandmother used it since mid 1950's so, it has served well. I loathe to replace it but, must.
Damn, bet a new one won't last that long. I use a Joseph Joseph garlic crusher ( flat thing with square holes in it) rather than a press these days, I found it easier to clean and quicker to use.
@golftragic I know and agree that quality isn't a top priority any longer. I will look to see if I might be able to find the crusher you suggest. I also like the idea of a crusher in the house 💪💪
@thistle Thank you so much, if I didn't love garlic so much, I'd take my time really researching. I may even resort to buying a back up.
@haskar You are so kind, thank you a great deal for the fav. My Mom had one just like it too. It is just a thing but not at the same time.
@la_photographic Thank you a great deal, funny how we get attached to things. My sons did hate to clean it anyway.
@evalieutionspics Truly appreciate it. The new one better be willing to stick around for a long time.
@henrir Thank you, the metal just turned a funky color recently. It just gave up the ghost so to speak.
@jernst1779 I wish I had a picture of my Grandmother using it but, no. I was thinking about putting it up on the wall but I think my husband might begin to wonder about me, more than usual :):)
