Street Photography, Redefined by jyokota

Street Photography, Redefined

Joe @rellimdj , my get-pushed-75 partner, challenged me to "black and white street photography this week; ideally journalistic or documentary in style." I responded, "that will be a challenge, indeed, because I wasn't planning to leave my sister's house at all. It's going to be -27 in Fargo tomorrow! But I'm always up for a challenge so I'll see what I can do. I may be redefining "street" as the grocery store aisles." He agreed that he was "most *definitely* open to reinterpretation of "street" toward keeping you safe and warm."

So, here we are in Costco. Seriously, this place is big enough to be a small town even inside a building. I liked the image of the boy reading next to a sign that said, "captivating," and shoppers' legs nearby on the "street."
@rellimdj -- thanks for being open to reinterpretation!

Nice catch...and I agree it works as 'street' photography.

Nice.

@rellimdj -- no sure you had a chance to see how I tried to "meet" your challenge . . . this is one of two attempts.

Joe
I did somehow miss this, my apologies and thanks for re-tagging. This is my favorite of the two. I particularly like the composition. Although you mentioned where it was in your description, the composition if perfect for conveying the story. It is in a large busy shopping area (concrete floors, legs and carts) and here this boy sits captivated in reading. Very nice, well done, and fav'd.
