The Light from Lighthouse by jyokota

The Light from Lighthouse

The first light consumed one pint of sperm whale oil an hour, and this newer Chance Brothers lantern relied on a gear system that had to be wound up every half hour. The light patterns cast identified which lighthouse it was to ships passing by, and the white fabric was necessary to keep from creating fires during the day when the sun light came through.
