shame he wouldn't turn more so I could capture the brilliant dark blue you can see on the back of his head.
This is a little kingfisher - til now I've seen kookaburras and sacred kingfishers, but not these. They are the smallest Australian native kingfisher and of course the kookaburra is the largest kingfisher there is. What a nice surprise if was to find this one today!
