—Gregory J. P. Godek—there were three butterflies and more than one bee on the phlox when I was taking this shot. I could only get two of the butterflies in one shot though I hoped to see all three at once.
Just gorgeous with the light and colour, and a super capture of the two butterflies! (and I see your point about carolina phlox being like a butterfly bush) Fav!!!
I am amazed at your ability to get terrific butterfly images. I have tried and lucky to get one flying out of the frame. Beautiful capture of the details and color.
@shutterbug49 thanks for your kind words… it is really helpful to have flowers that the butterflies love like this one… they really love this Carolina phlox and even if they fly away they usually come right back for more nectar. The eastern tigers often stay on the flower drinking for long enough to shoot lots of photos… having the butterflies hang around is very helpful and fun… I keep an eye on the Carolina phlox and keep my camera handy so when a butterfly shows up I’m ready to shoot.
