Hummingbird Throat Markings by kvphoto

Hummingbird Throat Markings

I combined two images of the same hummingbird in approach to the feeder to create a composite. I"m not sure if this bird is male or female... I'd guess either female or immature male because it only has a small orange marking on its throat that almost looks like a flower... instead of the ruby throat you usually see on the male. You can see the orange marking best on the left side image.
Wow! A fabulous image to capture this hummingbird in flight! (excellent focus- no easy feat with hummingbirds!) How clever of you! Interesting about the little orange flower on its throat. Fav!

Nicely done they look as though they are dancing

Terrific sharpness and well combined. I believe you are correct that this is a juvenile male. They don’t get the full throat patch until their second summer.

It's produced such a fabulous result with the bird shown so clearly both times. If you hadn't mentioned it I would have never thought that it was a composite..
