Cloth Mill in the 20th Century.

There has been a cloth mill recorded on this site since 1393 fed by all the rivers from the Stroud 5 valleys. This building dates from 1818 - 1820 and continued producing cloth right up to 1981. It came to fame again in 1986 when it was used for the shooting of the Pirelli Calender.

It was acquired by the Stroud District Council and fully opened as the main central offices in1990.

Today, being a Bank Holiday, gave me the opportunity to snap this building with no cars or pedestrians around.

Imagine what it was like to work there in the 1800's... Photo makes you think about that and the many people who worked there.
