Back to a scenic view today and a photo taken in the Golden Valley in Chalford, Stroud. This is a very narrow wooded valley where the GWR to London hogs the hillside whilst the old Thames & Severn Canal runs alongside, still to be restored.
Strange that it was Isambard Kingdom Brunel's railway that killed the canal that runs beside it. The hillside viaduct is also a Brunel masterpiece and a couple of miles further up the valley both the railway and canal disappear into long tunnels, fantastic engineering.
