Trains, Boats and Plain Towpaths.

Back to a scenic view today and a photo taken in the Golden Valley in Chalford, Stroud. This is a very narrow wooded valley where the GWR to London hogs the hillside whilst the old Thames & Severn Canal runs alongside, still to be restored.

Strange that it was Isambard Kingdom Brunel's railway that killed the canal that runs beside it. The hillside viaduct is also a Brunel masterpiece and a couple of miles further up the valley both the railway and canal disappear into long tunnels, fantastic engineering.

Best viewed with the magnify button above the pic.
so interesting thanks for the info ,lovely photo funny but not a blot on the landscape in my view.
