Nailsworth Cycle Track by ladymagpie

Nailsworth Cycle Track

If you have a disused railway line, this is the best thing that could have been done with it. The Nailsworth to Stonehouse Railway in Gloucestershire was finally closed in 1966 having not carried passengers since the 1940's. It laid unused and overgrown for years until someone decided to make it into a wonderful cycle and walking path.

Hundreds of volunteers worked tirelessly on the 5 mile track which today is used and appreciated by thousands of people. This photograph show the starting point of the path that travels through two of the Stroud Valleys, a very beautiful place to roam or cycle, also missing the dangers of the main roads..

Fabulous view; something similar has been done here for one of our disused railways, I walk it with my friend and her dog, such a great use of them
