In the early days of the old woolen mills around the Stroud Valleys the only way to transport the goods was by horse and cart. Each mill had there own coach houses where both the horses and carts were housed.
These are the coach houses at Lodgemore Mill with small cottages next door where the drivers lived. Now converted for people to live in, these 1700's red brick buildings look quite beautiful.

Ohhh, I love the combination of brick and stone, and all the architectural details, including the round window. A lovely image of a well-preserved piece of history.
