Grow your own Mistletoe. by ladymagpie

Grow your own Mistletoe.

Another picture taken from my Sisters old apple tree and this has some story. For a 5 year period my Brother-in-Law has been squashing mistletoe berries into the tree bark with no success. Then suddenly he has been growing his own mistletoe for Christmas.

He has been harvesting for ten years and now has grown it on a cherry tree, the pear tree has not given in to the invasion.

How interesting! I didn't know how mistletoe was grown. Lovely photo and fun story.

@featherstone Thaank you Sue, it's usually caused by birds rubbing their beaks on the tree after eating mistletoe berries.

@thresheg @philcameron59 Thanks for your comments and FAV, no Phil it's not Robin but I get your thinking. Perhaps I should call him Doug as he's always in his garden.

Lovely, and so green (can you tell I'm longing for greenery?) I had never given any thought to how mistletoe grew - I just buy it to hang in doorways!
